Have been feeling low and no longer enjoy activities you typically did.
Notice that your usual coping skills aren’t helping you deal with your problems.
You find it difficult to build and maintain relationships.
You find it difficult to control your emotions and your day-to-day functioning is impaired.

You don’t need to have a diagnosed concern to seek professional help from a therapist. It is as much a space for self-discovery and personal growth as it is for working through mental health problems like anxiety or depression.

Your therapist can help you deal with relationship concerns, family-related concerns, career-related concerns, and other personal issues. They can work with you to explore and manage emotional distress, find new coping strategies, and increase your self-awareness.

Therapists keep client information confidential within the Therapy session. So, what happens in Therapy, stays in Therapy. No information will be shared with a third-party without your permission.

There are limits to this confidentiality in the following circumstances:

If the therapist believes that the client is at risk of harming themselves or others.
If the therapist is informed about or suspects abuse, neglect, or exploitation of a minor or of an incapacitated adult.
If the therapist believes that the client’s mental condition leaves them gravely disabled.

You can get the most out of Therapy by:

Attending Therapy sessions regularly
Opening up to the process and feeling your feelings as fully as possible
Being honest with your therapist, without the fear of judgement
Doing your best to work on homework assigned outside of your sessions
Allowing yourself to be patient, courageous, curious and vulnerable

Therapy is a lengthy process of self-discovery – it takes time to examine and change lifelong beliefs, experiences, and behaviour patterns. That being said, every therapist aims to empower you with the awareness and abilities you need to address problems throughout your life

On average, our clients take 12 sessions to see progress.

Seeking Therapy and sharing your feelings does not make you weak. Many of us have learnt to believe that seeking Therapy, being vulnerable and talking about our feelings is shameful. In reality, vulnerability may be our greatest strength and is the path to a more fulfilling life.

While everyone may have the resources to deal with their problems, some overwhelming and long-standing patterns may require external help, and that’s okay! Therapists are trained to understand how humans process thoughts and emotions, and can help you see things from a new perspective. We all have blind spots, and Therapy can help you gain the necessary perspective to make better decisions

What to expect:

A safe space to explore your concerns
Setting goals and working towards them
Collaborative process between you and the therapist
Applying new insights and learnings from Therapy to your everyday life.
Your first Therapy session is a chance for you and your therapist to get to know each other. The therapist will gather information about your concerns, explore your expectations for Therapy, explain the Therapy process and their approach
An opportunity to share feedback about what works and doesn’t work for you in sessions.
What not to expect:

A quick fix for your problems. Your therapist will not tell you what to do or give you advice, but will work with you to explore your concerns and empower you to decide how you’d like to resolve problems or achieve your goals.
Therapy may not always be ‘easy’ or ‘comfortable’. In Therapy you talk about parts of your life that may be uncomfortable, but these discussions are essential to growth and healing.

Therapy is not just about ‘talking’. Through conversations with your therapist, you explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours, as you reflect and gain insight about the patterns underlying your concerns. You also work on identifying and practising coping strategies along with problem-solving exercises during and between sessions.

Therapy is for people of all ages. When a minor (below 18 years) seeks Therapy, the consent of a parent or guardian is mandatory and at times, the parent or guardian will play a role in the Therapy process.

Your Therapy sessions are working for you, if you:

Gain deeper self-awareness
Trust your therapist and feel understood
Feel more optimistic and notice shifts in your thinking
Notice behavioural and mood changes, as well as improvements in your relationships with others.
Can use Therapy-related resources and strategies to solve problems outside of Therapy sessions
Are able to quickly recover from, and adapt to stressful situations in life
While these are some signs that Therapy may be working for you, progress doesn’t look the same for everyone. Additionally, it’s important to remember that the changes and progress will not take place overnight, and longer term Therapy is the best way to see actual progress.

It is only natural to feel a bit hesitant about opening up to a therapist. But a therapist’s job is to listen, not to judge. They also provide a safe environment for you to learn self-acceptance
